UrbanInsects as a Measure for ESG-Compliant Real Estate?
Energy-efficient renovations not only offer advantages for climate protection and long-term cost savings for residents and owners, but also the opportunity to send a strong signal for biodiversity in cities.
Our project develops and tests habitat systems for insects that are integrated into building facades. This can be done in an energy-efficient and innovative way, for example, as part of a renovation. In this way, the renovated building facade serves a dual purpose: it contributes to climate protection and provides additional urban habitat for insects.
The project is investigating both the absence of damage to the structure and a healthy indoor climate. It is also determining the acceptance and expectations of the urban community.
Companies that upgrade their properties in this way can therefore credit this as ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) measures in the area of environment and social affairs. Likewise, craft businesses that specialize in installing the systems can send a strong signal here.
