Habitat-Systems for insects integrated into façades

The loss of insects, among other things regarding many of its fundamental functions (including ecosystem services), must not be ignored. The central goal of the PhD is a holistic, building-physical analysis and development of possibilities to create and investigate habitat systems (especially for insects) in urban surfaces. Artificial manmade nesting aids will be created with and in suitable materials as breeding opportunities for wild bees (flagship species) in the building envelope. The acceptance of the nesting aids and their effect, for example as thermal bridges, are considered in terms of (urban) building physics and ecology. Damages for buildings, humans and animals are to be avoided. Furthermore, social aspects are part of the investigation.
