Healthy and energy-efficient design of sports facilities

A healthy lifestyle is of great importance for many people of all ages these days. This also includes sporting activity, which more than half of the population in this country does regularly.

A sports infrastructure with a future includes premises that meet requirements in terms of functionality and safety, as well as offering healthy and performance-enhancing conditions. At the same time, these design goals must be implemented sustainably, with energy- and resource-efficient buildings and technical systems. So far, there are no well-founded research results either on the suitable quality of stay or on the energetic balance of sports rooms. The synchronous consideration of the requirements of both aspects, which is necessary in itself, has also not yet been taken into account. The aim of this project is therefore to formulate recommendations for an integral and sustainable design and operation of sports spaces.
